Effects of Homosexual Practices Reach Farther than Argued

It has been argued that homosexual practices have no effect on anyone except the parties involved. This is untrue. Note some examples: (1) Dr. Angela McCaskill, of Gallaudet University in Washington, was placed on administrative leave for signing petition backing a referendum that would put Maryland’s same-sex marriage law to a popular vote. McCaskill is the first deaf African-American woman to earn a doctorate from Gallaudet. She said university officials were attempting to intimidate her and the suspension has tarnished her reputation and nearly quarter century of services. “I am dismayed that Gallaudet University is still a university of intolerance, a university that manages by intimidation,… allows bullying among faculty, staff and students,” McCaskill said (Employment News & Trends, David Schepp, posted October 19, 2012). (2) A new California law bars licensed counselors and therapists from helping anyone under 18 to change their sexual orientation. This law violates the right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children and prohibits them from seeking professional help for a son or daughter dealing with same-sex attraction issues. It also takes away free speech from licensed professional counselors and infringes on the freedom of religion for Christian counselors. (3) Some unmarried same-sex partners (males) in New York sued to change an adopted boy’s Louisiana birth certificate to state that the child had two fathers and replacing the name of the biological parents with their own, affirming a lie and stating what is biologically impossible. The suit was unsuccessful but they may file an appeal. (4) The homosexual lobby is pushing the president to file a brief against California to overturn the will of voters who voted down same-sex marriage. (5) They are also pressing the president to issue an executive order to force through a bill requiring businesses, day cares, and churches to maintain quotas of homosexual employees, running around the legislative process. They also want any opposition, including Bible quotations to be branded as hate speech in the public arena.

These are the tip of the iceberg. Similar incidents could be added. They show that the idea that no one else is affected by same-sex relationships is a myth. Regarding both same sex marriage and abortion, we are told that it’s nobody’s business what goes on in the bedroom. Yet they want taxpayers to pay for the consequences of what happens in the bedroom!

The state of California voted overwhelmingly against same-sex marriage – 70%. A high percentage of those voting not to change a 6000 year old definition of marriage were black. They should be praised for standing up for biblical marriage and not accepting the false argument that homosexuals are “born this way” or that it’s the same as being born black. First, one’s race and gender are declared at birth. One’s future moral behavior is not. There is no biological evidence that determines one will practice sodomy, pedophilia or bestiality. Nor is there biological evidence one will practice adultery, theft, murder, lying, etc. Second,  no black person ever had to come out of the closet to declare his blackness. Third, homosexual practices involve one’s behavior. Being black is not a behavior. Fourth, homosexual behavior is said to be “against nature” (Romans 1:26). Nothing of the kind is said about being black. Fifth, God gave his son for the forgiveness of our sins. One does not need forgiveness for being black. It is right to reject this false parallel.

Other letter writers and columnists have questioned why religious leaders don’t speak out. Could it be they are making sure church members are being entertained and are too busy to be bothered? Could it be they are available for photo ops when handing out baskets but when it comes to speaking in the public arena on unpleasant issues that may negatively affect their popularity that they become as silent as an oyster with the backbone of a jellyfish? Could it be that they have caved in to political correctness? You decide. Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
