Does Not Wisdom Cry Out?

“Receive my instruction, and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold; for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.” (Proverbs 8:10-11)
If you were among our Bible study last Wednesday evening, you recall that we studied the first section of Proverbs which encourages us to seek wisdom! The first 9 chapters contrasts two “women” who are diametrically opposed to one another: the “immoral” woman vs. the woman of God (wisdom). Solomon make an impressive case as to why all people should choose God’s grand lady spoken of in Proverbs 8, and yet, the vast majority, both then and now, choose the devilish path towards that immoral woman!
As one reads chapter 8, God’s lady cries out to humanity saying: have of an understanding heart for I speak of excellent things, right things, truth, righteousness, knowledge and instruction. Wisdom glorifies a person so much, claiming that if we have the foresight to embrace her, we’ll find true riches, far beyond anything silver and/or gold can do for us! She attestes that she dwelt before the world was formed as an ally of our Creator. Verse 30 declares that she was beside God as His master craftsman rejoicing in the creation of men.
Maybe that explains why the bulk of humanity in our generation continue to choose the immoral woman. They scoff at the thought of the God of the Bible being our Creator for they’ve chosen the foolishness of modern evolutionary theory. From that launch point, it’s not hard to see why men chase the worldly carrots of fifthy lucre, sexual immorality and other fleshly lusts. Mention one’s need for God and His wisdom, you quickly sense loathing, hatred and wrath!
But, God’s lady is correct! She said in Proverbs 8:35-36, “For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord; but he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those who hate me love death.” Christians, love “lady wisdom” for she is God’s ally for life… life eternal with God forever in heavenly habitations
