Jesus Didn't "Evolve" on the Meaning of Marriage

He went back to the original pattern. “.. He who made them from the beginning made them MALE and FEMALE, and said, For this cause shall a MAN leave his FATHER and MOTHER, and shall cleave to his WIFE; and the two shall become one flesh .....What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matthew 19:4-6). This is God’s definition of a natural marriage as contrasted with that “which is against nature” (Romans 1:2627). To redefine marriage is to put asunder what God enjoined. This verse also shows God wants us to be raised by a father and mother.

Dictionaries up through the twentieth century have defined marriage as ‘between a husband and wife”. For approximately 6000 years marriage has been defined this way. Though sodomy was rampant during the morally corrupt Roman Empire and a few “marriages” took place, same-sex marriage was never legalized for the empire. Have we become worse than the mighty Roman Empire - which is no more? What happened to those who said “you can’t legislate morality” on the abortion issue but now say legalizing same sex marriage is the moral thing to do? Others have said “it’s the right thing to do:’ Right, according to what standard of right and wrong? The Bible or the godless secular humanist standard? “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20,21). Leftist commentators have said that 100 years from now those who upheld traditional marriage will have been proven to be on the wrong side of history. We should be more concerned about being on the wrong side of God. History has two sides - a wrong side and a right side. God has a history of dealing severely with this sin. Those who promote it today are on the wrong side of God’s history. In the Bible, it is never spoken of in a favorable light. To call such a position “progressive” is a misnomer. It is digressive. A conservative is a person with sense enough to know that change isn’t necessarily progress. Some defenders have tried to justify if from the Bible, but recently a revision of the Bible went on sale that is advertised as “gay friendly:” That’s an admission the Bible doesn’t endorse gay marriage. Otherwise, why the need? We can’t afford to fool ourselves any time. Shall we also have a Bible that is “pedophile friendly?” And one that is friendly toward bestiality and necrophilia to satisfy those cravings? Jesus is a friend to all mankind. He and His apostles have shown us the way to eternal life. While each of us has our own set of strengths and weaknesses, He hasn’t asked anything of us that is greater than we can bear. (1 Corinthians 10:13). He is willing to forgive when we truly repent (2 Peter 3:9).’

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God”, (Psalm 9:17).

“Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). ‘

Two thousand years ago (Matthew 24:35), Jesus said “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away:’ So far, they haven’t.

When the Bible says one thing, and people think another, the Bible (not the people) is right.
